Reflection from the progress show

During this experimental period, I focused on exploring various media to express and expand upon my conceptual ideas. Through a process marked by trial and error, I discovered materials that resonated with my creative approach. Among these, fabric and painting proved to be the most effective in conveying my theme.
Throughout this time, I encountered numerous challenges. Some were necessary for my growth, while others could have been avoided with better planning. One significant realization was that my initial direction—emphasizing the visual expression of media—led me away from the core idea of the relationship between play, emotion, and healing. Through multiple discussions with my mentor, I was able to clarify my thinking and shift the focus of my work toward the emotional and healing aspects of play. I aimed to capture the positive emotions behind these concepts, using small visual metaphors such as “windows” to reveal layered emotional narratives.
Taking part in the exhibition was an important learning experience. Presenting my work in a physical store environment allowed me to evaluate how well my pieces communicated with the audience. I gained insights from feedback provided by both classmates and spectators. While the visual impact of the individual paintings was strong, the overall combination lacked coherence, leading to a fragmented presentation. This experience highlighted the importance of thematic consistency when curating an exhibition.
Reflecting on this process, I plan to carry these lessons into the next stage of my creative development. I aim to create more cohesive work while continuing to explore fabric and painting as key materials. Solving the issues I encountered will not only improve the quality of my future exhibitions but also support my ongoing artistic and conceptual growth.
